German Bundesliga 2 side SSV Jahn Regensburg has snapped up German-born of Ghanaian descent, Davis Asante as they look to beef up their squad for the upcoming 2025/26 season. The Bavarian side view Davis Asante, who has been with the second team of Werder Bremen as a suitable prospect in their squad as they intend to bolster their attacking options for the upcoming campaign.
The 22-year-old winger signs a deal that sees him ply his trade in the “Cathedral City” until 2027. He was interviewed on Jahn TV as he announced his delight to have joined the Red and White side.
"I am very happy to be in Regensburg now and will give everything to ensure that we will have a successful future here. The SSV Jahn is a family club that fits mine very well with its values. The conversations with Achim Beierlorzer and the new coach Michael Wimmer gave me a good feeling and convinced me that I am in the right place here. I can hardly wait to meet my teammates and prepare with them for this season.”
With Davis Asante, SSV Jahn has signed a new player for the offensive outside positions. Most recently, the 22-year-old played for Werder Bremen II in the Regionalliga Nord. Achim Beierlorzer, Managing Director Sports of SSV Jahn Regensburg, says about the new signing:
"With Davis Asante we have been able to win a fast, technically savvy and talented player for us, who now wants to take the next step in his development with his 22 years. He has already played in his career as a left winger, right winger and on the ten and will thus give us more variability in the offensive. We will work with him in the coming months to ensure that he is here at SSV Jahn and in the 3. League arrives quickly.”
Davis Asante comes from Bremen and moved from his home club SC Borgfeld to the youth team of Werder Bremen at the age of twelve. There he went through all the youth departments and played two games for the German U16 national team. With the second team, he was initially relegated to the Bremen League in 2023, but contributed nine goals and seven assists in 14 games in the following year to the direct re-promotion. In the past season, he scored seven scoring points in 14 games. With Jahn striker Dejan Galjen, he meets a former teammate in Regensburg, with whom he was on the field for a total of ten games.
