German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier has arrived in Accra for a three-day state visit, aimed at deepening diplomatic and economic ties between Ghana and Germany.
He was received on Sunday evening at the Kotoka International Airport (KIA) by Ghana’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, and the German Ambassador, Mr. Frederik Landshöft.
President Steinmeier, accompanied by a high-level delegation, will hold official talks with President John Dramani Mahama at the Jubilee House on Monday, November 3, 2025.
The visit will begin with an inspection of a Guard of Honour at the Forecourt of The Presidency, followed by a closed-door meeting between the two leaders. Their respective delegations will later engage in bilateral discussions focusing on trade, investment, technology transfer, and development cooperation.
A State Luncheon in honour of the German President and his delegation will be hosted at the Presidential Banquet Hall later in the day.
On Tuesday, President Steinmeier will travel to Kumasi, where he will cut sod for a new project at the Kumasi Technical Institute, visit the Kumasi Centre for Collaborative Research, and meet with officials and alumni of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST).
The German leader will also pay a courtesy call on the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, at the Manhyia Palace, before departing Ghana later in the evening.
