The Ghana Education Service (GES) has announced the opening of applications for the promotion of qualified teachers and officers to higher ranks within the service.
The promotion exercise covers four categories: Deputy Director, Assistant Director I, Assistant Director II, and Principal Superintendent. The process is exclusively open to serving teachers who meet the eligibility criteria outlined by the GES.
Eligibility Criteria:

Deputy Director: Applicants must have held the rank of Assistant Director I as of 2020 and have remained in post since, excluding any approved leave periods.

Assistant Director I: Applicants must have been promoted to Assistant Director II in or before 2020 under the same conditions.

Assistant Director II: Candidates must have held the rank of Principal Superintendent in or before 2020.

Principal Superintendent: Applicants must have attained the rank of Senior Superintendent I in or before 2020.
Additional Qualifications:
Teachers who have completed an approved undergraduate degree will be automatically placed at the Principal Superintendent level.
Teachers who intend to use Master’s or PhD degrees for promotion must ensure their qualifications are part of the approved GES course of study. Additionally, the certificate must have been obtained after the applicant’s last promotion, and only qualifications earned by 2022 will be accepted for promotions to the Deputy Director, Assistant Director I, Assistant Director II, and Principal Superintendent ranks.

Their highest academic certificate (all documents, except the photograph, must be uploaded in PDF format).
The application window opens on Monday, August 18, 2025, and will close on Friday, September 5, 2025.
