The Ghana Education Trust Fund (GETFund) has issued a strong warning to the public over increasing cases of fraud involving individuals falsely posing as agents of the Fund to extort money in exchange for fake scholarship offers.

In a statement released on Friday, May 23, GETFund management revealed it has received several reports of scammers misusing its name and reputation to deceive unsuspecting Ghanaians.

“GETFund does not charge any fees at any stage of its scholarship application or award process."
“These fraudulent claims are entirely false and should be disregarded. The public is strongly encouraged to treat any such solicitation as a scam and to report any suspicious activity to the appropriate security agencies or directly to the GETFund Secretariat,” the letter read.

The Fund described the fraudulent claims as completely false and urged the public to treat any such solicitations as scams.

GETFund also made it clear that it will not be liable for any financial losses suffered by individuals who fall victim to these fraudulent schemes.

Reaffirming its commitment to transparency and fairness, the Fund assured all Ghanaians that its scholarship programme remains entirely free and strictly merit-based.
