The Ghana Football Association (GFA) is eagerly awaiting a decision from the Confederation of African Football (CAF) following an inspection of the Accra and Cape Coast stadiums in preparation for the upcoming 2024 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers.

According to sources from JoySports, CAF inspectors visited Ghana last weekend at the request of the Ministry of Sports to assess both facilities.

This evaluation was prompted after the Baba Yara Sports Stadium, which hosted Ghana’s previous match against Angola, was banned by CAF due to poor pitch conditions.

Speaking at the SaveGhanaFootball inquiry before Parliament's Sports Select Committee on Monday, September 30, GFA President Kurt Okraku stressed that the final decision on the stadium selection rests with CAF.

“Mr. Chairman, we are waiting for CAF,” Okraku said. “We have done the hard work, and now we await CAF's response.

Our experts have conducted their assessments, but I will not comment on their report until CAF speaks.”

The Black Stars are set to face Sudan on October 11, and securing a venue is critical as the team looks to claim their first win in the 2025 AFCON qualifiers.

Ghana has earned just one point from their opening two matches, following a 1-0 loss to Angola and a 1-1 draw against Niger.

Currently sitting third in Group F, the Black Stars are aiming for a strong comeback to boost their chances of qualifying for the tournament, which will be held in Morocco.
