The Communications Director of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), Henry Asante Twum, has confirmed that the Black Stars' crucial Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifier against Sudan will take place on an astroturf pitch.
The match, which serves as the second leg of their doubleheader, will be held at the Martyrs of February Stadium in Libya.
Speaking to Asempa FM ahead of the fixture, Asante Twum explained, "Before the team left Accra, we were informed that the game would be played on an astroturf surface.
Sudan, due to the ongoing civil unrest in their country, is hosting their home games in Libya, where the Martyrs of February Stadium is used for international and league matches."
The Black Stars played Sudan to a goalless draw in the first leg at the Accra Sports Stadium last Thursday and are now seeking their first win in the 2025 AFCON qualifiers.
Asante Twum emphasized that the team has been made aware of the conditions and is ready to adjust. "We just have to prepare ourselves. We can't blame Sudan for the pitch," he added.
The Black Stars arrived in Libya on Sunday and will hold a mandatory training session on the astroturf later tonight in preparation for Tuesday's 13:00 GMT kick-off.
With two draws and a defeat in their campaign so far, Ghana is under pressure to secure a win and keep their qualification hopes alive.
Due to ongoing conflicts in Sudan, the team has had to play their home games outside the country, using Libya as their temporary base.
