Fredrick Acheampong, Executive Council member of the Ghana Football Association and former CEO of Ashantigold, has expressed heartfelt appreciation to supporters in the Ahafo Ano South East Constituency for their overwhelming backing in his parliamentary bid under the New Patriotic Party (NPP) banner.

Despite his efforts, Acheampong lost the December 7, 2024, election to National Democratic Congress (NDC) candidate Yakubu Mohammed, who secured victory with a margin of over a thousand votes.

Asare had entered the race with high hopes, fueled by a robust campaign focused on improving infrastructure, creating job opportunities, and enhancing livelihoods in the constituency.

However, his aspirations to represent the people in parliament have been deferred, marking a setback in his political journey.

In a statement shared after the election, Asare extended gratitude to his family, friends, campaign team, and the thousands who voted for him.

He praised the efforts of his campaign team, the various clubs supporting him, and the volunteers who worked tirelessly to push his vision forward.

Reflecting on his campaign, Asare acknowledged the strides made, including face-to-face interactions with voters and efforts to address pressing local issues such as electricity, water supply, and road networks.

He expressed humility and optimism, stating, "GOD’s TIME IS THE BEST," as he shifts his focus back to football administration.

This election loss serves as a stepping stone for Asare, who is determined to continue contributing to his community while awaiting another opportunity to vie for parliamentary office.

Below is his statement

Dear Patriots,

We lost the elections.

I would like to take a moment to thank everyone who helped me with my campaign. I especially want to thank the voters in Ahafo Ano South East Constituency who voted for me and placed their confidence in me wanting me to be their Member of Parliament. I am humbled and honored”

In January, when I won the NPP Primaries, a well thought-out plan was devised that would take Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia and I to victory on Election Day, regardless of the opponent. That plan included pushing for the communities without electricity to be connected to the national grid, securing telephone network access for those communities without connectivity, securing job opportunities for our youth , placing some of the youth into tertiary schools, improving the road networks, offering portable water supply to some communities, and improving the general livelihood of our people, meeting the voters face-to-face, getting my message out on a personal level, and letting the voters see just who I am. We accomplished that on many fronts. When all was said and done, I had knocked on many doors, walking the vast majority of the constituency severally. To the voters of Ahafo Ano South East, a big thank you.

This journey would not have been possible without help from my family and my many friends and supporters... and a Campaign Team who was second to none. To the several thousand voters who voted for us, we say thank you. To the individual friends who donated towards my campaign and walked with me during the last few months when you could have been doing anything but, thank you also. Yesterday, all party executives, MP, DCE, former DCE and fellow aspirants were on hand working for victory.

I can’t forget the various “FRIENDS OF ACHEE” clubs and other groups and clubs who worked tirelessly towards this election.

TEAM ACHEE & VOLUNTEERS- The committee was organized, energized and driven. Thank you.

I am very humbled by the support everyone has given me.

GOD’s TIME IS THE BEST
