The President of the Ghana Football Association, Kurt Okraku, has praised what he calls the steady and encouraging growth of Ghana’s domestic top flight, citing improved matchday attendance, stronger competition and renewed fan confidence in the 2025/26 season.

Speaking to Asaase Radio, Mr Okraku said the current campaign reflects significant progress across league centres, with supporters returning in greater numbers and standards improving on and off the pitch.

‎“What excites me most is the progression of local football,” he said. “Days ago, we witnessed the Super Clash at the Baba Yara Stadium in Kumasi, and that was a loud statement about our game, our passion for local football, and the quality of our officials.”

The “Super Clash” at the Baba Yara Stadium drew a vibrant crowd, underlining what many observers describe as a revival of belief in the domestic game.

‎Mr Okraku also singled out referee Daniel Laryea for special praise, describing him as one of the finest officials on the continent and a symbol of the strides being made within Ghana’s football ecosystem.

‎On the pitch, the title race remains finely balanced. After 22 matches, Medeama SC sit top of the table with 44 points, but several clubs remain within striking distance as the competition enters a decisive phase.

Matchday 23 fixtures are set to be played across the country this weekend, with fans anticipating another round of drama in what is shaping up to be one of the most competitive seasons in recent years.
