The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has urged President-elect John Dramani Mahama to prioritize investment in key areas of football development in order to unearth world-class talents.
Mahama, who emerged victorious in Ghana's December 7 elections, returns to the presidency after having previously served a first term.
In a statement congratulating the former president, the GFA highlighted the unifying power of football in the nation, recognizing the sport's ability to bring the country together.
The GFA expressed its commitment to collaborating closely with President Mahama’s government to raise Ghanaian football to the highest standards.
They emphasized the importance of significant investment in infrastructure, grassroots development, and talent nurturing as essential pillars for the growth of the sport in the country.
A portion of the statement read: "As you are aware, football is the unifying force that binds our nation together, and the GFA is fully committed to working closely with your government to elevate Ghana football to the highest level."
The association believes that with the support of the new administration, Ghana can develop a thriving football ecosystem capable of producing world-class players and teams, which would bring pride and glory to the nation.
