The Ghana League Clubs Association(GHALCA) have expressed their shock about the death of veteran football administrator Jones Abu Alhassan whose sudden demise occurred in Ivory Coast after a short illness.

He was part of the Ghana Football Association's delegation that accompanied Hasaacas Ladies to the WAFU Zone B CAF Women's Champions League qualifier which ended in Ivory Coast on Friday with the Ghanaian champions winning.

"We are shattered by the news of the passing of one of the outstanding football administrators in Ghana Jones Alhassan Abu. He was a luminary in the country's game and contributed immensely to the growth of Ghana football. May Allah grant him Jannatul-Firdaus." GHALCA posted on their social media handle on Tuesday.

The ace football administrator fell ill on Friday and was admitted to hospital in neighbouring Ivory Coast and was on admission.

They wanted to transfer him to Accra on Tuesday but he gave up the ghost on Tuesday morning.

Jones Abu Alhassan has played key roles in Real Tamale United (RTU) and was manager of the legendary Abedi Ayew Pele.

He was 64 years and is credited for being the kingpin who helped Kurt Okraku come to power two years ago.

His family are currently meeting to decide the next line of action as he is a Muslim and they do not waste time on burying the dead.
