The Black Queens have bowed out of the 2018 AWCON following their disappointing 1-1 draw against Cameroon on Friday.
Ghana started the game the better side, with a lot of urgency, mounting pressure on the Cameroonian backline.
Asantewaa and Portia Boakye were the brightest spots as the Queens continued to create some decent half chances with Skipper Elizabeth Addo hitting the woodwork midway through the half.
The wave of pressure finally paid off in the 31st minute as Portia Boakye’s long range free kick flew pass Cameroonian keeper Annette Flore, who misjudged the flight of the ball and dropped into the net.
Just as the Queens were cruising to a one goal advantage at the break, an error in judgment by goalkeeper Nana Ama Asantewaa in the 40th minute gifted the Indomitable Lionesses a cheap penalty that was easily dispatched by Christine Manie to make it 1-1.
The level of play dropped significantly in the second half with neither team having enough cutting edge to snatch the victory.
The draw meant that Cameroon and Mali who recorded a 3-2 win against Algeria have qualified for the semi-finals for the first time in their history.
