The President of the Federation of Associations of Ghanaian Exporters (FAGE), Davies Narh Korboe, has expressed confidence that Ghana has the natural and human resources required to achieve food self-sufficiency and become globally competitive in agriculture.

Speaking ahead of the third edition of the Ghana Horticulture Expo 2026, scheduled for June 11 to June 13, 2026, he said Ghana’s fertile land, favourable climate, and hardworking population position the country strongly for agricultural transformation.

He stressed that agricultural self-reliance should be viewed not only as an economic goal but also as a national responsibility that requires innovation, partnerships, and sustained investment.

“Ghana possesses the land, the people, the climate, and the potential to feed itself and compete globally. Agricultural self-reliance is not merely an economic ambition; it is a national responsibility,” he said. “Through innovation, partnerships, and strategic investments, we can build a Ghana that grows what it consumes and exports what the world demands.”

His remarks reflect the vision behind the upcoming Ghana Horticulture Expo, which aims to mobilise stakeholders across the agricultural value chain to drive growth and transformation in the sector.

The three-day event will be held at the Forecourt of the State House in Accra and is expected to bring together farmers, exporters, agribusiness operators, investors, development partners, researchers, policymakers, students, and consumers.

Organised by FAGE in collaboration with the Ghana Export Promotion Authority (GEPA) and the Ghana Export-Import Bank (Ghana Exim Bank), the expo will be held under the theme: “From Soil to Sovereignty: Building Ghana’s Agricultural Self-Reliance through Innovation.”

Building on previous editions, the 2026 expo is expected to showcase a wider range of innovations and attract greater participation as stakeholders seek to unlock opportunities within Ghana’s horticultural sector.

Despite the country’s abundant agricultural resources, industry players say significant untapped potential remains, particularly in value addition, processing, and export expansion.

The event will feature exhibitions of fresh produce, spices, processed goods, greenhouse technologies, irrigation systems, agritech solutions, packaging innovations, and export-ready products.

It will also include business-to-business networking sessions, market linkages, and policy discussions aimed at strengthening the agricultural value chain and improving Ghana’s competitiveness in global markets.

Organisers say the expo is designed not only to promote investment and trade but also to inspire young entrepreneurs and reinforce agriculture as a key driver of jobs, food security, and economic growth in Ghana.
