Ghana has taken a significant step to enhance aviation security and improve passenger processing with the launch of a new real-time passenger data system at Kotoka International Airport.

The newly introduced Advance Passenger Information (API) and Passenger Name Record (PNR) systems will allow security agencies to collect and process passenger details before flights arrive or depart.

This proactive approach will enable authorities to identify potential security threats early, improving national security and streamlining immigration and customs procedures.

Speaking at the commissioning of the new system and the opening of a new Air Navigation Services building, President John Mahama called on the Ministers for Transport, Interior, and Foreign Affairs to collaborate on expanding the API and PNR systems across the country. This expansion is seen as a key step in accelerating the implementation of e-visa processes.
