Lawyer Maurice Ampaw has stated that Ghanaians should stop playing child games when it comes to the issue of vigilantism.

According to the outspoken legal practitioner, Ghana needs the presence of Vigilante groups during elections.

He made the comments while speaking on UTV adding that, during general elections, the vigilante groups prevent the dislocation of ballot papers and other election malpractices because persons who come with negative thoughts begin to think in right directions when they meet strong men they believe can face them.

He said, "Party vigilante groups are very much needed in Ghana to protect ballot boxes at polling stations. Indeed they work uniquely than the so-called polling agents who have been mandated to work as such".

He added whiles sounding angry that vigilantism in the country is not illegal and instead of dissolving the vigilante groups in the country, the members of such groups should be trained work for free and fair elections.

He said, "Vigilante groups are not illegal; they are needed...I know for a fact that no vigilante group has been dissolved. Members of the NPP have come under pressure to make statements that they have dissolved vigilante groups...".
