Head Coach of Nations FC, Kassim Mingle-Ocansey has revealed how he is helping his players manage the pressure that comes with winning the Ghana Premier League, most especially, the one they seem to have become favorites in— the 2024/2025 Ghana Premier League title.
Nations FC are few steps away from clinching their first-ever top flight title as they sit attop of the log with 60 points, three above second-placed Bibiani Gold Stars after 32 league games.
With two games left for the season to come to a close, the former Bechem United tactician talked about winning the league and representing the nation in next season’s CAF Champions League.
“Once you are in the system for long, Africa you have to get experience in coaching. Coaching the more you practice for long the more you gain experience,” Mingle told Radio Gold.
“So we have been in the system for long and we are matured enough to handle any situation.”
When asked about the pressure that comes with retaining the top spot with two games to end the season, the former Great Olympics trainer admits there is so much weight in keeping up with the lead but remains steadfast in ending the season with the title.
“Normally when it happens there is pressure but we are not novice in this game so we are managing it and we are psyching the boys up that, such a situation you have to calm down, motivate yourself you haven’t won the league before and this is your first time and going to Africa too will add to your value.” He continued.
“So we psyche them up and we do what we need to do to clinch the title. We are left with two matches. We take one match after the other and now we are focusing on the Holy Stars game before we come to Heart of Lions game.
“So we are doing what we need to do to win the league, we are working hard for it,” Mingle said.
The Abrankese side will have their final two games of the season coming up and they will be against Basake Holy Stars and Heart of Lions. They will first have to travel to Nzema to face Holy Stars in week 33 on June 1 before hosting Heart of Lions a week later in the last fixture of the season.
