The Ghana Schools U15 Boys and Girls football teams received a warm and heartfelt welcome at the Ghana Football Association (GFA) headquarters on Monday, November 25, 2024, following their successful campaign at the WAFU B Schools Football Championship in Niger.
Led by Executive Council member Samuel Aboabiri, the teams returned to Ghana on Sunday after delivering impressive performances, with the Girls’ team clinching Gold and the Boys securing Bronze.
A special reception ceremony was held at the GFA headquarters to celebrate the young players' achievements. JoeSalam Abubakar, the 1st Vice Chairman of the National Juvenile Committee, represented GFA President Kurt Edwin Simeon-Okraku at the event.
Abubakar expressed immense pride in the teams' accomplishments, acknowledging the hard work and talent that led to their success.
"We are very proud of what you have achieved at the WAFU B Schools Football Championship. Winning Gold and Bronze shows your commitment and talent," he stated.
He encouraged the players to stay disciplined and focused as they work towards their future careers in football.
"This is just the beginning. To achieve great things in your football careers, you must remain disciplined, focused, and dedicated," he added.
Abubakar also took the time to commend the technical staff, praising their role in guiding the players to success.
"The technical team deserves a lot of credit for shaping and supporting these young boys and girls. Together, you’ve made Ghana proud," he said.
The event was attended by key figures including Collins Kwasi Dei, Chief Finance Officer of the GFA, and Godwin Gabriel Kwao, a member of the National Juvenile Committee and Vice Chairman of the Greater Accra Regional Football Association.
The Gold medal performance of the U15 Girls and the Bronze win for the Boys highlight the promising future of Ghanaian football, with these young talents setting a strong foundation for the country's footballing success.
