Swiss Super League side St. Gallen has announced the signing of Ghanaian defender Stephan Ambrosius on a three-year contract.
The move, made public on Saturday, sees Ambrosius joining the Swiss club as a free agent following the expiration of his contract with German club Hamburger SV at the end of last season.
Ambrosius, born in Hamburg, began his journey with Hamburger SV in 2012, advancing through the club's youth ranks.
He made his Bundesliga debut in March 2018 against VfB Stuttgart after being called up to the first team earlier that year.
Despite HSV's relegation, Ambrosius remained with the club, featuring in 45 games in the 2nd Bundesliga, including 18 appearances last season.
During the 2022/23 season, Ambrosius was loaned to league rivals Karlsruher SC, where he made 18 appearances in the German second tier.
His consistent performances have now earned him a new opportunity in Switzerland with St. Gallen.
Ambrosius has also represented the Ghana national team in two friendly matches, adding an international dimension to his playing experience.
At St. Gallen, he will don the number 5 jersey, ready to embark on this new chapter of his career and strengthen the club's defensive lineup.
