Ghanaian players Abdul Fatawu Issahaku and Jordan Ayew will soon work under a new manager at Leicester City following the dismissal of Steve Cooper after just five months in charge.

Cooper was sacked with the club languishing in 16th place in the Premier League after 12 games.

The final blow came after a 2-1 loss to Chelsea, led by former Leicester manager Enzo Maresca, leaving the Foxes only two points clear of the relegation zone.

Cooper was appointed during the summer to replace Maresca, who had guided Leicester to the Championship title and promotion back to the Premier League.

However, his tenure failed to yield consistent results. Leicester City announced that first-team training would be temporarily overseen by coach Ben Dawson, supported by Danny Alcock and Andy Hughes, as the club begins its search for a new head coach.

Previously, Cooper managed Nottingham Forest, leading them to Premier League promotion in 2022 and ensuring their survival the following season.

However, he was dismissed midway through the 2023-24 campaign with Forest in 17th place. Cooper's career also includes guiding England’s U-17 team to World Cup victory in 2017 and a notable spell at Swansea City, where he reached the Championship play-off final in 2021.

During his short time at Leicester, Cooper signed Jordan Ayew from Crystal Palace for €5.9 million, reuniting him with fellow Ghanaian Abdul Fatawu Issahaku at the King Power Stadium.

Former Chelsea and Brighton coach Graham Potter is in the lead, while the likes of David Moyes, Ruud Van Nestelroy have all been linked with an appointment expected within the week.
