A Ghanaian family living in Australia has survived a tragic fire outbreak in their home.

The family of seven managed to flee from the fire after it broke out at about 6;40 am on Saturday morning in their single-storey home in Sydney.

Their nine year old daughter however got the worst of the fire before a neighbour dragged her from her ordeal. This was unfortunately after she had sustained burns to up to 90 percent of her body.

The girl's neighbour, Vy Ngaro has been praised for his good deed after he saved the girl before emergency services arrived.

"I wouldn't call me a hero, but I was there at the right time, to get the girl out," he told Nine News. "We dragged her on the grass, I yelled out for someone to give me a hand." Mr Ngaro said.

galThe girl was rushed to the children's hospital in a critical condition where she underwent surgery.
