Ghanaian international Baba Iddrisu marked an emotional comeback to competitive football on Sunday, ending a nine-month spell on the sidelines.

The combative midfielder had been out since November 2024, when he suffered an ACL injury during UD Almería’s clash with Córdoba in the Spanish Segunda División, leaving the pitch on a stretcher in the 50th minute.

On his return on Sunday, September 7, Baba lasted 74 minutes for Almería in their 3-2 home defeat to Real Racing Club, showing glimpses of his trademark grit and energy in midfield.

His absence was a big blow to UD Almeria as they struggled to have such combative midfielder in the person of Baba as they missed out on making it to top flight football during his absence.

It was a special moment for the 29-year-old, whose recovery demanded resilience and patience after one of the most testing periods of his career.

The 26 year old's return marks a sensational return in his quest to helping Almeria UD Almeria make a return to top flight football since being relegated in the 2023/24 season.

The former Mallorca man has featured for the senior national team, the Black Stars 29 times, marking his debut back in 2019 when the Black Stars won 2-0 against South Africa in an African Cup of Nations qualifier at the Cape Coast Sports Stadium.
