Ghanaian midfielder Richmond Lamptey has completed a move from APR FC to Libyan side Al Ittihad Misurata SC on a one-year deal, ending his stint in Rwanda after just one season.

The former Asante Kotoko man managed only eight league appearances without a goal or assist for APR. He was also part of the Black Galaxies squad that won the WAFU tournament on home soil in 2017 under the auspices of current Ghana U20 head coach Maxwell Konadu.

His departure was confirmed in a short club statement:

“Thank you, Lamptey Richmond. We appreciate your time, effort, and commitment to APR FC. Best of luck on your next journey.”

APR reportedly signed Lamptey for $150,000, but he now departs for Libya in a transfer worth $50,000. He is expected to return to Ghana briefly before joining his new club in North Africa.

Lamptey, who was part of Ghana’s squad at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations, had been seen as a marquee signing for APR but failed to make the expected impact.
