Penalties! The very word that generates fear and dread in most Ghana players that has left Ghanaians feeling the pain at the moment after the U23 lost again in AFCON semi-finals against Cote d'Ivoire.

But former Black Stars defender Frimpong Manso who scored the 7th penalty at the Senegal 92 African Cup of Nations which Ghana eventually lost to Cote d'Ivoire believes Ghanaian players must be confident and courageous in taking penalty kicks at the big stage.

"Ghanaian players should have confidence and be courageous in taking penalties anytime the opportunity is given to them especially at the big stage." he told Kumasi based Ashh Fm.

Some Ghanaians are convinced that we will even lose on the next occasion we are in one, unless we do something about the problem and stop believing it’s down to bad luck but the former Kotoko coach is of the view that the players must learn on their own.

"Our players should not always rely on their Coach to teach them how to take penalties but practice how to take penalties on their own after training"

"Practising penalty kicks in our league games after a draw game will help improve the standard of penalty kicks in tournaments.
