Ghanaian musician Daniel Boakye, popularly known in the music industry as Dsavv, has been arrested in France following a daring escape from custody in the United Kingdom.
The 21-year-old had been serving a prison sentence in the UK when he fled from Lewisham Hospital in south-east London, where he was receiving medical treatment.
Daniel Boakye’s escape, which occurred on 15 February 2026, triggered a manhunt after he posted videos online taunting authorities and daring them to apprehend him.
In the videos, he claimed he would neither return to prison nor allow himself to be deported to Ghana, drawing significant attention to his case both on social media and in the press.
According to reports, Boakye was eventually apprehended on 2 March 2026 in La Bouëxière, a small town in France with a population of roughly 5,000 residents.
French authorities acted on intelligence that led to the arrest, in coordination with the Metropolitan Police Service in London. Arrangements are currently underway for his return to the UK to continue serving his sentence.
Boakye had previously been sentenced in 2023 to six years and five months in prison for his involvement in a robbery gang. Investigators revealed that the gang targeted victims at knifepoint, forcing them to reveal mobile phone passcodes before stealing cryptocurrency estimated at £115,000. The group also allegedly used victims’ bank accounts to pay for taxi rides and purchase mobile top-up vouchers.
The Metropolitan Police confirmed the initial escape, noting that officers attempted to apprehend Boakye immediately after he absconded from Lewisham Hospital at around 3:05 pm on 15 February 2026, but he managed to evade capture before leaving the premises.
Dsavv’s arrest in France has brought an end to a week-long international pursuit that highlighted not only the rapper’s audacity but also the coordination between UK and French law enforcement authorities in apprehending fugitives across borders.
Authorities stress that investigations and security measures remain in place to ensure that Boakye is returned safely to the UK and that the remaining aspects of the case are fully resolved.
