Ghanaian striker Jalal Abdulai experienced a rollercoaster of emotions as Elfsborg drew 1-1 with Rijeka in the UEFA Europa League Qualification Round 3 on Thursday.
Abdulai opened the scoring for Elfsborg in the 25th minute with a well-placed right-footed shot from the center of the box, set up by Arbër Zeneli.
However, his night took a dramatic turn when he was shown a second yellow card for a foul in the 56th minute, leading to a red card and his premature exit from the game.
Despite Abdulai's dismissal, Elfsborg managed to secure a draw. Rijeka equalized in stoppage time of the first half, with Niko Galesic converting a pass from Niko Jankovic.
Ghanaians Michael Baidoo and Terry Yegbe also played key roles for Elfsborg.
Baidoo completed 78 minutes on the pitch, while Yegbe played the full match. Elfsborg will now turn their attention to their Swedish Allsvenskan fixture against GAIS on August 11.
