Ghanaian teenager Bobby Amartey has officially signed his first professional contract with English Premier League club Leicester City.

The 18-year-old defender, who joined the Foxes' academy at the age of 12, has steadily risen through the ranks to secure this milestone in his career.

Amartey's impressive performances with Leicester's developmental squad last season, where he captained the U21 side in the Premier League 2, earned him this professional deal.

His leadership on the pitch and consistent form made him a standout player, catching the eye of the club's management.

In the previous season, Amartey made 14 appearances in the Premier League 2, in addition to playing 21 matches for the U18s.

His versatility, being able to play both as a defender and a midfielder, has been a significant asset to the team.

Reflecting on his progress, Amartey expressed his satisfaction with his development but emphasized his desire to continue improving.

"I feel like it (the season) started off slow," he shared in an interview earlier this year.

"But it started picking up and I picked up quite fast, and I'm happy where I am now. But I'm not the finished product, so hopefully, I can become better."

Regarding his transition to a midfield role, Amartey added, "Midfield is a new position for me, but I really enjoy it, and hopefully, I can play a lot more. I feel more comfortable there."

As he joins the first team ahead of the new season, Amartey's journey from the academy to signing a professional contract is a testament to his hard work and dedication.

The young Ghanaian's future at Leicester City looks promising as he continues to develop his skills and contribute to the team's success.
