The Black Galaxies of Ghana played out a thrilling goalless draw against Nigeria in the first leg of their 2024 CHAN qualifier on Sunday, December 22, at the Accra Sports Stadium.

Mas Ud Didi Dramani's side delivered a commendable performance but were unable to capitalize on the few chances created during the game.

The match was marked by solid defensive displays from both teams, with Nigeria’s backline standing resolute against Ghana's energetic attack.

The first half saw spirited efforts from both sides, but clear-cut opportunities were scarce. Ghana dominated the wings and controlled the midfield, but their efficiency in front of goal fell short.

The second half brought heightened attacking intent from both teams.

Nigeria came closest to breaking the deadlock, hitting the woodwork, while Ghana's substitute Jerry Afriyie narrowly missed a golden opportunity to snatch a late goal.

With the tie finely balanced, the Black Galaxies will continue preparations for the decisive return leg at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Nigeria on Saturday, December 28.

The winner will secure a spot in the prestigious 2025 CHAN Tournament.
