Ghana’s rising star Jennifer Awuku has earned a unique opportunity to serve at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Morocco after being selected as one of two standout players from this year’s CAF African Schools Football Championship.

The gifted U-15 forward was crowned Best Player of the Tournament at the continental schools’ competition staged at the University of Ghana Stadium in April, where she inspired Ghana’s U-15 Girls to their first-ever championship triumph, scoring the team’s opening goal of the tournament.

Awuku, who recently joined Hasaacas Ladies in the Ghana Women’s Premier League, will be among the ball kids at AFCON, serving at Africa’s biggest football festival.

She will be joined by Senegal’s Souleymane Faye, the other youngster who won the Best Player for the Boys category at the tournament, selected from the Schools Championship in Accra.

CAF says the initiative reflects President Dr Patrice Motsepe’s vision for the holistic development of African youth — creating competitive platforms while also offering cultural exchange and leadership opportunities that can inspire the next generation on and off the pitch.

Awuku’s recognition not only highlights her exceptional talent but also underscores the growing pathway between grassroots competitions and continental showpieces.
