Ghanaian winger Kwame Poku has sealed a move to Queens Park Rangers (QPR) from Peterborough United, signing for an undisclosed fee in what he describes as an exciting new chapter in his career.

The 23-year-old turned down several offers to join the R’s, citing the club’s vision and ambition under new head coach Julien Stéphan as key to his decision.

“The project they're building here excites me,” Poku said. “I want to be part of taking QPR to that next level.”

Poku becomes the latest high-profile exit from Peterborough this summer, following the departures of Ronnie Edwards, Harrison Burrows, and Ephron Mason-Clark. His arrival at QPR, however, is being welcomed as a statement of intent from the West London club.

Having already amassed over 220 professional appearances across spells with Colchester United and Peterborough, Poku brings both experience and hunger to the Championship side.

“Being 23 turning 24, I'm not quite young anymore,” he reflected. “I want to come in and make my mark from the jump.”

He credits his journey—from League Two battles with Colchester to four seasons at Peterborough—as crucial to his development, helping shape his resilience and professionalism.
“It was a journey that needed to happen,” he said. “It was about being resilient and trying to be in a position where I can just showcase my talent every day and be the best version of myself.”

Poku previously featured in the Championship with Peterborough during the 2021/22 season but admits he is now returning as a more complete player.
“I had good performances back then, but the difference now is in my end product. At QPR, surrounded by top attacking talent, I believe I can create more, finish more, and post better numbers.”

QPR CEO Christian Nourry expressed his delight at the signing:
“Kwame is a player the recruitment department have followed for over four years. His choice to join us, despite interest from clubs with bigger budgets, speaks volumes about the direction we’re heading. We’re thrilled to have him on board.”

As Poku looks ahead to his debut season with QPR, he’s clear on his goals:
“Individually, I want to hit good numbers. As a team, we want to improve on last season. It’s a new experience for me—and I’m ready.”
