A quiet community in Gomoa Buduburam has been thrown into shock after a 23-year-old woman, Theresa Darkoah, allegedly lost her life in a chilling case of betrayal, jealousy and suspected poisoning.

According to accounts from the area, Theresa had been in close contact with a man identified as Kofi Emma, widely known as Blackee, who was reportedly pursuing a romantic relationship with her and often supported her financially.

What began as courtship, however, is said to have spiralled into a fatal confrontation.

The incident is believed to have been triggered by a dispute over GH₵100.

Theresa allegedly asked for the money, explaining she needed it to repair a faulty standing fan before welcoming the man to her home.

After the money was sent, communication between the two reportedly broke down, leaving the suspect frustrated and angry.

Sources claim that repeated attempts by the man to reach Theresa were unsuccessful.

Feeling ignored, he allegedly demanded his money back and is said to have issued threats when it was not returned.

The situation reportedly took a dangerous turn when he allegedly tampered with medication and sent it to Theresa through a messenger.

Not long after taking the medication, Theresa’s health reportedly declined sharply. She was rushed to a medical facility, where she was pronounced dead.

Medical officials are said to have indicated that she had ingested a poisonous substance.

Following the incident, the suspect reportedly disappeared, prompting police to launch a full-scale manhunt. Investigators are working to piece together the events leading to the young woman’s death and to locate the suspect, who remains at large.

The tragic case has left residents stunned and grieving, while reigniting conversations about relationship-related violence, trust, and the devastating consequences of unresolved conflict.
