Wycombe Wanderers secured a thrilling 3-2 victory against York City in the FA Cup first round at Adams Park on Saturday, with English-born Ghanaian forward Gideon Kodua making a notable impact by scoring the team’s second goal.

The match began with an impressive start for Wycombe, as Luke Leahy converted a penalty in the 14th minute to give them an early lead.

Just seven minutes later, Kodua doubled the advantage with a precise right-footed shot from the center of the box, putting Wycombe firmly in control.

York City fought back, with Tyrese Sinclair finding the net in the 31st minute, keeping the visitors within striking distance.

However, Leahy struck again in the 57th minute, restoring Wycombe’s two-goal cushion.

Despite a late goal from York City’s Joe Felix in stoppage time, which reduced the deficit, Wycombe managed to hold on for the win.

This victory marks Wycombe’s fifth win in nine encounters against York City, further establishing their dominance in this matchup.

As they shift their focus back to League One action, Wycombe will be eager to maintain their strong form as they prepare to face Stockport County next.
