Ghanaian defender Gideon Mensah was conspicously missing for his new French Ligue 1 side Girondins de Bordeaux over the weekend due to issues with his  International Transfer Certificate (ITC).

The defender joined Bordeaux from Austrian champions RB Salzburg on loan on Friday with an option to make the deal permanent at the end of the season.

Mensah was not included in the match day squad as his side succumbed to a 2-0 opening day defeat to newly promoted Clermont Foot on Saturday.

The club are optimistic that they can resolve the issues with his ITC before their next league game on Sunday against Olympique Marseille.

The 22 year old defender is on his third loan spell after  going on loan last season at Portuguese side Vitoria Guimaraes but the club decided against  or signing him on a permanent deal due to financial constraints.

He was in good form last season for the Portuguese side alerting two Spanish clubs namely Granada and Getafe.

Gideon Mensah made 22 appearances last season for Vitoria Guimaraes in the Portuguese League.

He has been capped five times by Ghana and played in two International friendlies against Morocco and Ivory Coast in June.
