The Ghana Olympic Committee (GOC) have made a mammoth cash donation of $8,000 (GH43,000) to the national U-23 team, the Black Meteors ahead of their final tournament which will serve as the qualifier for the 2020 Olympic games in Tokyo-Japan.

The Donation made at the executive meeting of the GOC, and received by representatives of the Ghana football association is in line with the GOC’s objective of facilitating the qualification of member federation teams towards the Olympics.

The Black Meteors begin their final tournament in Egypt for the third Africa U23 championship with the top three teams making the trip to Japan.

The 8,000 dollar fund is a collaborative initiative of the Ghana Olympic committee, and the Association of National Olympic committees of Africa (ANOCA).

The GOC made a similar donation to for the Ghana Rugby team ahead of Johannesburg competition with an amount of $8,000.

This comes after the GOC president through ANOCA reached an agreement to secure some funds to assist the various federations.
