Ghana Premier League winners, Bibiani Gold Stars are in a huge dilemma over the choice of venue for their next season’s continental campaign.

The Western North based club clinched their first ever domestic top flight trophy after shrugging off competitions from Heart of Lions and the nation’s two top sides, Hearts of Oak and Asante Kotoko to claim the title with 63 points.

The remarkable feat meant that the champions had qualified for the 2025/2026 CAF Champions League competition but their home ground, the Dun’s Park in Bibiani looks  substandard, and is not in good condition to host CAF inter-club competitions.

Chief Executive of the club, Kwesi Adu has stated that, the club is torn between adopting the Kumasi Baba Yara or the Accra Sports Stadium for the continental competition.

“I am very confident that with the support of the National Sports Authority (NSA), led by Yaw Ampofo Ankrah, and in collaboration with both Kotoko and Gold Stars, the necessary works can be completed in time for us to play our preliminary matches in Kumasi.

“At this point, Kumasi has not yet been approved by CAF, but only a few finishing touches are required. Once those are completed, we are hopeful that the stadium will be cleared to host the matches.

If, however, the Baba Yara Stadium is not ready in time for the group stages, we will consider using the Accra Sports Stadium.

“For now, our target is to play the preliminary round matches at the Baba Yara Stadium in Kumasi.” Kwesi Adu told Akoma FM.

Gold Stars will look to exceed the preliminary stages and throng on to the group stage of the competition at least — a spot Ghanaian clubs have struggled to pick in the past few seasons.
