Bibiani GoldStars will be aiming to add another piece of silverware to their growing cabinet when they host Asante Kotoko in the Champion-of-Champions clash at the Duns Park on Saturday, August 31.

The Ghana Premier League holders booked their place in the season curtain-raiser after clinching their maiden GHALCA Top Four trophy last weekend at the Legon Sports Stadium. They now face Kotoko, winners of the MTN FA Cup, for the coveted Super Cup title.

GoldStars defender Vincent Atinga has expressed confidence in his side’s readiness ahead of the showdown.

“We are preparing very well for the game. We will beat Kotoko to win the Champion of Champions trophy. I have won it before, so I just have to talk to my teammates and share the little experience I have in the game, then we are good to go. Kotoko is a big club no doubt about that, but we are also GoldStars,” he told the club’s media.

The Champion-of-Champions not only offers bragging rights but also serves as a crucial dress rehearsal for both teams ahead of their continental campaigns.

  • GoldStars will represent Ghana in the CAF Champions League, beginning with a preliminary round tie against JS Kabylie of Algeria.

  • Asante Kotoko, meanwhile, will battle Kwara United of Nigeria in the CAF Confederation Cup.

The clash at Bibiani promises to be a thrilling contest, as the reigning league champions test their strength against one of Ghana’s most successful clubs.
