Government has announced Monday 5th August as Public Holiday following some changes it made last year.

Monday becomes a holiday as it follows the day set aside to mark theFounders Day, which falls on Sunday 4th August, the Interior Ministry has explained in statement.

Government last last years replaced the 21st September holiday, which was previously celebrated as Founder’s day in honour of Ghana’s first president, Kwame Nkrumah, with 4th August, naming it the "Founders Day" in an argument that to recognise all Ghanaians who contributed in the Independent struggle.

September 21, which has since 2009 been observed as Founder’s Day in memory of Ghana’s first President, Kwame Nkrumah, will now be observed as “Kwame Nkrumah Day” and continue to be a public holiday.
