Abondened project in the health sector will soon be completed following Parliament approval of funds for their continuation, the Minister of health has said.
Hon. Kwaku Agyeman-Manu said Parliament has approved a €274, 290, 429.00 million and an additional $20 million for health projects in the country.
He said Cabinet and Parliament approved the amount to allow for the continuation of old projects that had to be phased out due to lack funding.
The approvals are also to allow work to commence projects that “have been on the drawing board for the last 5 years and beyond,” he said.
He was briefing the media on Thursday, September 19, 2019 at the Information Ministry in Accra.
Projects
According to him, the projects include the rehabilitation of Bolga Phase III (295 bed) at a cost of $20 million; construction of six selected health facilities in the Western Region located at Elubo, Bogoso, Akontombra, Nsuaem, Wassa Dunkwa & Mpohor (rehabilitation) at a cost of €26, 290,429.
The rest, he said, included remodeling and retooling of four selected hospitals in the Eastern Region at Tetteh Quarshie Memorial Hospital, Mampong Aburi (Kom) Health Centre, Atibie Hospital, Kibi Government Hospital, all at a cost of €40 million.
The final two projects are the construction of Eastern Regional Hospital at Koforidua at a cost € 70 million, and the completion of maternity and children’s block at KATH valued at € 138 million.
