The President Nana Akufo Addo has disclosedb that Government has  begun rolling out the One-District-One-Factory programme with some 51 medium-scale factories.

Addressing business leaders in Germany recently, President Nana Akufo-Addo said his Government would want to "facilitat prievate sector entrepreneurs to take those developments."

“What we want to do is to facilitate private sector entrepreneurs to take those developments. At the state side, we are identifying bottlenecks at the various districts; whether it is in terms licensing regime, access to land and those basic matters,” the President said.

The government would also provide networking opportunities, assistance with financial planning and financial management, regulatory and legal compliance, links to strategic partners for market and community access.

The One-District-One-Factory programme is a flagship industrialisation policy promised by the New Patriotic Party (NPP) during the 2016 electoral campaign.

The programme is aimed at building a factory in each of the 216 districts across the country..

The programme, which will also provide business support services and capacity budding, mentoring and coaching for the private firms that will invest into the project.

The President has hinted of government’s plan to emphasise a private sector-led development, which he says  "is still relevant for the success of the policy."
