Minister of Finance, Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson, has briefed a visiting International Monetary Fund (IMF) Mission team on Ghana’s economic journey so far this year. The meeting, held on Monday, September 29, marked the start of the Fifth Review of Ghana’s IMF-Supported Programme.
Dr. Forson acknowledged that Ghana began 2025 with considerable economic challenges but said firm policy measures and collective national effort have helped to stabilize the situation and deliver notable progress. He stressed that while some risks remain, government is determined to tackle them decisively.
The IMF delegation, led by Dr. Ruben Atoyan, met with senior officials including Bank of Ghana Governor Dr. Johnson Asiama, First Deputy Governor Dr. Zakari Mumuni, Deputy Finance Minister Thomas Nyarko Ampem, and Chief Director of the Ministry of Finance Patrick Nomo.
According to Dr. Forson, the Fifth Review provides Ghana with a crucial opportunity to assess progress under the programme and to incorporate IMF feedback into ongoing reforms.
Dr. Atoyan, on behalf of the IMF team, expressed readiness to engage in the review process over the coming days.
