The Minister for Health, Kwabena Mintah Akandoh, has assured that the government is making notable strides in addressing the long-standing issue of unpaid salaries and allowances for health workers across the country.
Speaking to the media in Accra on Monday, October 13, Mr. Akandoh revealed that the Ministry of Health has successfully secured financial clearance to facilitate the payment of 17,909 nurses, midwives, and allied health interns who began their national service in early 2024.
In addition, the Minister disclosed that the Finance Ministry has also granted clearance for 13,500 nurses and midwives recruited and posted in late 2024. Their initial clearance, which was set to expire on December 31, 2024, has now been renewed, ensuring that full payments will be made.
