Yendi-based division two football club, Great Amphibians FC on Saturday 5th February, 2022 organised an impressive ceremony to launch its social media platforms and unveil their squad for the season.
The two hour ceremony was graced a number of dignitaries from the football and media fraternity including the Northern Regional Football Association Chairman, Alhaji Abu Hassan Rhyzo and his vice, Mr. Frank Kessie who is also the owner of Kesmi FM and Ultimate FC both in Tamale. The chair of the Northern Regional Division Two clubs committee Mr. Mohammed Tahidu.
The general manager for GBC Naya Radio Mr. Abu Kassim Issah was also in attendance, the Yendi Municipal Football Association Chairman, Mr. Illiasu Ibrahim and his entourage also were in attendance.
In his welcome address, the C.E.O and founder of GAFC, Mohammed Yakubu Whyte, said the unveiling of the squad was to introduce the clubs's players and kits for the 2022 season to the club's supporters and the sporting public in the Northern Region.
With regard to the launching the social media handles, Whyte said the exercise aimed at improving engagement between the club and its fans as well as the sporting public in Ghana and across the world. He added that social media is the communication platforms of the moment, and provides the most effective means of promoting businesses and activities.
Three social media handles were launched, namely; Facebook, Twitter and YouTube.
The C.E.O added Instagram was still on the way coming.
The Northern Regional Football Association Chairman, Alhaji Rhyzo commended the club for taken that step and even applauded them for adding YouTube channel to it owing to the fact that the Regional Football Association hasn't done so.
"I am impressed with what I have seen so far, even at Regional level, we have not had a YouTube channel and so if Amphibians has done it, it means they have gone a step further" Alhaji Rhyzo said
He continued "The NRFA has a duty to promote football in the region. I and my administration are therefore committed to supporting this great initiative from GAFC and encouraging other clubs in the region to create and maintain functional social media platforms in order to market their clubs and excite their fans. "
Alhaji Rhyzo donated ghc500 to Great Amphibians FC as a token of his support. He also donated ghc 100 to the visiting club for the occasion, Guntingli FC.
The assistant headmaster of Yendi SHS who also serves as the Board chairman of the club, Mr. Edward Bismarck Akakpo was the chairman of the occasion and also donated ghc100 to the Great Amphibians club.
Great Amphibians football club was founded on September, 2011 by Mr. Yakubu White, it has been playing in the Division Two League since it's inception. Reaching the sub-middle league and also appearing two times in the MTN FA Cup Preliminary Round against Young Zobzia FC and recently against Tamale division one side Steadfast FC.
They have produced some quality players who are currently chasing their dreams elsewhere in the GPL, namely; Yakubu Labandoo affectionately called'Computer', plays for Real Tamale United, Yakubu Jebilla Keeni Formerly at Legon Cities now plays for Medeama SC and Justice Kenya is in the post for Tamale Steadfast FC.
