President Nana Akufo Addo will on Tuesday join hundreds of female entrepreneurs at the maiden Ghana Women Entrepreneurship Summit (GWES2018).

The President is the special guest of honor for the event which seeks to empower women entrepreneurs in the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprise (MSME) Sector.

The event, which is being organised by the National Board for Small Scale Industries (NBSSI) at the Movenpick Ambassador Hotel in Accra, kicked off on Monday, bringing together government officials,business leaders and entrepreneurs within Ghana and from across the globe under one roof.

Just as the red carpet will be rolled to the president on Tuesday for him to witness the strides being made by Ghanaian women in the economy, the day will as well mark the drawing of curtains for the summit that has received an overwhelming participation by business women in the country.

He will deliver Keynote Address at the conference as he is expected to highlight  measures being taken by his 17-month-old Government to develop female owned businesses in the country.

The president will also be engaged in high  level panel discussion on 'transforming growth through women in trade' with Mr Amadou Mahtar Ba, who is the co founder and executive chairman, All Africa  Global Media.

Howover,  NBSSI has already proposed setting up of a "special fund" that will facilitate the expansion and competitiveness of women-owned businesses in the country. 

The two-day event themed:“Ghanaian Women Entrepreneurs: From Voices to Action” focuses on identifying innovative ways of accelerating the success of women entrepreneurs in the country for job creation and participation in industrialization, organisers have said.
Day 1 of the summit came to an end with lots prospects as participants were engaged in powerful and thought provoking conversations that focused on addressing the challenges women face in doing business in the country.

It was organised around a series of plenary sessions, TEDx style talks, panel discussions, fireside chats and technical working sessions.

Other  other high profile speakers, including the UK High Commissioner to Ghana, the Danish Ambassador to Ghana, Co- founder& Executive Chairman, All Africa Global Media, the Honourable Minister for Trade and Industry and other female entrepreneurs.
