Over 300 women entrepreneurs and influential business leaders are billed to participate in the maiden Ghana Women's Entrepreneurship Summit(GWES 2018), which comes kicks of on Monday June 4th at the Movenpick Ambassador Hotel.

The two-day event, which is being organised by the National Board for Small Scale Industry(NBSSI),will also be graced by the attendance of President Nana Akufo Addo as the guest of Honour.

The summit dubbed:“Ghanaian Women Entrepreneurs: From Voices to Action” focuses on identifying innovative ways of accelerating the success of women entrepreneurs in the country for job creation and participation in industrialization, organisers have said.

It also seeks to foster economic growth, which is in alignment with the current Government’s agenda of empowering women entrepreneurs in the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprise (MSME) Sector.

“This exciting initiative is very important and it will help in fostering stronger partnerships between NBSSI and its stakeholders thereby creating a unique platform for women entrepreneurs that are change-makers and innovators,the Executive Director of NBSSI, Ms. Kosi Yankey told ghanaguardian.com

"It will as well engage in powerful and thought provoking conversations, focused on addressing the challenges women face while doing business in Ghana”.

The summit will be organised around a series of plenary sessions, TEDx style talks, panel discussions, fireside chats and technical working sessions.

It is expected that, the event that has already received a massive response from women entrepreneurs nationwide, will  provide a platform and network to develop strategies and mobilize the requisite resources to implement targeted projects and programs to ensure the long-term development , growth and sustainability of women-owned enterprises in the country.

A call to action

According to the organisers, the event will be "one of the biggest  female-biased"  gathering of recent times, bringing together government officials,business leaders and entrepreneurs within Ghana and from across the globe under one roof.

"Among the objectives of the summit is to open a new path using technology to ensure the advancement and economic liberalization  of women in this country," said the Director of women entrepreneurship development department of the NBSSI, Ms Habiba Sumani.

"It will craft Ghana's call to action on innovative ways to harness the untapped potential of women entrepreneurs contributing to job creation and economic growth.

"It is going to be  one of the biggest female-biased programs of recent times considering  how massive the response has been."

She said, the Summit would address the most important issues facing the female entrepreneurs in the country, adding that "it is for this reason we chose the theme '“Ghanaian Women Entrepreneurs: From Voices to Action'.”

Some prominent personalities to attend also include the UK High Commissioner to Ghana, the Danish Ambassador to Ghana, Co- founder & Executive Chairman of All Africa Global Media, the Honourable Minister for Trade and Industry Mr Alan Kyeremanteng.
