Ghanaian singer Gyakie is gearing up for an international showcase as she joins the star-studded lineup for the debut edition of the Afro Jam Festival in Japan.
The festival, scheduled from July 18 to 27, 2025, will see Gyakie performing across three major cities: Okinawa (July 18), Osaka (July 24), and Tokyo (July 27).
She will share the stage with global music stars including Jason Derulo, Rema, Ruger, and Shenseea, as Afro Jam Festival sets out to spotlight the vibrancy of Afrobeats culture in one of Asia’s growing music markets.
Speaking on Joy FM’s Showbiz A-Z with Kwame Dadzie, Gyakie expressed her excitement and surprise at the invitation to perform in Asia.
“I’ve been getting a lot of DMs from my people in Japan saying they can’t wait to see me,” she said. “When I got the information that they needed me for the performance, I had to really take it in. I couldn’t believe I was going to Asia.”
Gyakie joins a rising wave of Ghanaian acts breaking into the Asian market, following the footsteps of King Promise, KiDi, and Santrofi band, all of whom have made recent inroads into the region.
Meanwhile, the “Forever” hitmaker has released a new single, ‘Sankofa’, the first track off her upcoming album, ‘After Midnight’ setting the tone for what promises to be a big year.
