Former board secretary for Accra Hearts of Oak has advised the new FA to hasten slowly about a proposal to introduce penalties in our league game whenever there is a drawn game.
Since the U-23 penalty debacle in Egypt where the team failed twice to gain an Olympic games ticket after coming short in penalty shoot outs, there have been suggestions for the introduction of penalty shoot outs in our local league, a proposal which has been mooted by the GFA.
The former boss of SSNIT has advised the FA to equip its technical department and commission them to conduct proper research into our penalty shootout woes instead of the knee jerk decision to introduce penalties.
"So what I’m saying is that let’s make haste slowly right lets maybe find a technical team to look at the teams what kind of training regimes they do and how much time they spend on dead balls and the rest and a whole comprehensive report is done." he told Kumasi based Akoma Fm.
He also advised that we can use our yet to begin league season as an assessment period before any decision is taken.
We can use this league as an assessment period before we take a decision It’s just like trying to introduce the VAR we just don’t rush they did a lot of work before they gave it the go ahead.
