Health Goldfields Bogoso-Prestea Mine has paid a total of GH¢136 million to settle outstanding legacy liabilities owed to former workers of the Bogoso-Prestea mine, marking a major step toward resolving long-standing obligations.

The payment, made in accordance with a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) reached with the Mineworkers’ Union, forms part of the company’s ongoing efforts to clear arrears accumulated over the years and address concerns of its former employees.

In a press statement issued on January 19, 2026, Health Goldfields said the settlement is part of a broader strategy aimed at resolving historical liabilities linked to its operations and strengthening industrial relations.

The company noted that the move reflects its commitment to responsible and sustainable mining practices in Ghana. It emphasized that ethical conduct remains central to its operations.

“At Health Goldfields, integrity is not just a value; it guides our actions. Honouring these obligations reinforces our purpose of enriching lives through sustainable gold mining and strengthens the trust we continue to build with our employees, partners and host communities,” the statement said.

Health Goldfields further indicated that it is working closely with relevant authorities and stakeholders to ensure full compliance with statutory, financial and operational requirements, in line with applicable laws and industry best practices.

The company reaffirmed its commitment to safeguarding mining operations in Ghana while contributing meaningfully to the growth of the mining sector and the country’s broader national development agenda.
