The Minister of Health, Kwabena Mintah Akandoh, is set to brief Parliament today, Tuesday, July 1, 2025, at 2:00 PM about the current COVID‑19 situation in Ghana.
The presentation will cover public health preparedness, response measures, and the latest data on infections, vaccinations, and surveillance.
The briefing follows a COVID‑19 spike at the University of Ghana, confirmed on June 23, where both suspected and confirmed cases prompted the reactivation of campus health protocols .
On June 26, the university’s health directorate urged all staff, students, and visitors to strictly adhere to preventive measures and suspended events organised by student bodies including GRASAG, SRC, and JCRs until further notice .
Professor Rosina I. Kyerematen, Dean of Student Affairs, stated the suspension aims to “safeguard the health and well‑being of the University community.”
“All staff, students, and visitors are strongly advised to remain vigilant and strictly adhere to the recommended preventive measures to reduce the risk of infection and community spread."
“These measures have become necessary to safeguard the health and well-being of the University community."
University authorities have asked for full cooperation to help contain the virus.
