Parliament has entered day three of deliberations on the 2026 ministerial budgets, approving major allocations across key sectors.
The Ministry of Health emerged with the highest allocation so far, receiving GH¢22.8 billion to advance hospital infrastructure, expand healthcare delivery, and support nationwide public health programmes. The approval underscores government’s renewed focus on strengthening the country’s healthcare system and improving access to quality medical services.
Parliament also endorsed the 2026 expenditure plans of several other ministries, including:
- Ministry of Works, Housing and Water Resources — GH¢1.46 billion
- Ministry of Transport — GH¢1.5 billion
- Ministry of Local Government, Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs — GH¢4.79 billion
- Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection — GH¢3.26 billion
- Ministry of Fisheries and Aquaculture Development — GH¢428 million
To enhance justice delivery and anti-corruption efforts, legislators approved GH¢47.5 million for the Legal Aid Commission and GH¢159 million for the Office of the Special Prosecutor to scale up investigations and prosecutions.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs also secured GH¢1.7 billion to support Ghana’s diplomatic operations and international engagements.
Parliament is expected to continue scrutinising additional ministerial budgets in the coming days as the 2026 approval process progresses.
