Hearts of Oak head coach Aboubakar Ouattara emphasized the effort behind their first away win of the season, as the team defeated Young Apostles 2-1 at the Nana Abrefa Nketiah VII Park during match-week 6 of the Ghana Premier League.
The match saw all goals scored in the second half. Emmanuel Amankwah opened the scoring in the 50th minute, but Samuel Prempeh equalized with a stunning bicycle kick shortly after.
Hamza Issah then netted the winner just moments later, securing the three points for the 'Phobians.'
With this victory, Hearts of Oak climbed to eighth place in the league standings, boasting eight points from two wins, two losses, and two draws.
In his post-match remarks, Ouattara described the game as challenging, acknowledging Young Apostles as a strong opponent. He noted that while they are pleased with the victory, the team remains focused on upcoming matches.
“Today’s match was very tough. Young Apostles have a good side, and we had to work hard to secure the three points.
This is our second win, but we can’t celebrate too much. We will continue to work hard and see what happens this season. It’s not easy, but we’re committed to doing our best,” Ouattara stated.
Looking ahead, Hearts of Oak will face Dreams FC in their next league match.
