Accra Hearts of Oak have initiated discussions with highly-rated playmaker Stephen Diyou as the club prepares to bolster its squad ahead of the 2024/25 Ghana Premier League season.
According to credible information from within the club, negotiations are underway between Diyou’s representatives and Hearts’ management.
The 23-year-old, who impressed with Nsoatreman FC during the 2023/24 season before leaving the club, is reportedly a key target for new head coach Aboubakar Ouattara.
Ouattara, appointed to rejuvenate the squad following a lacklustre campaign, is looking to inject pace, creativity, and attacking flair into the team—traits that Diyou is known for.
The dynamic winger netted five goals and provided multiple assists last season, standing out as one of Nsoatreman’s brightest talents.
Now a free agent, Diyou’s status removes any immediate transfer fee concerns, making him an attractive option for the Phobians.
However, Hearts may need to fend off interest from two other Ghana Premier League clubs as well as suitors from North Africa.
Diyou is believed to be interested in a move to the capital, viewing Hearts of Oak as a major platform to elevate his career.
While no deal has been finalized, both sides remain optimistic about reaching an agreement ahead of the official transfer window opening in June.
Backed by club president Togbe Afede XIV, Hearts of Oak are expected to undergo a significant squad overhaul in the off-season.
The pursuit of Diyou could signal the beginning of a renewed push to return the club to the summit of Ghanaian football.
