Hearts of Oak are set to release 14 players as they prepare for the 2024/25 Ghana Premier League season, marking a major overhaul in their squad.
According to Graphic Sports, the list of departing players includes Congolese duo Glid Otanga and Linda Mtange, who joined the club two seasons ago but did not meet expectations.
Both players are among those being let go due to their underwhelming performances.
Several players are leaving due to new opportunities with other clubs.
Salim Adams, who recently returned from a brief stint with FC Cincinnati in the USA, has signed with Sudanese side Al-Hilal Omdurman.
Influential midfielder Ibrahim Salifu, who opted not to renew his contract, has joined FC Drita in Kosovo.
The departure list also includes Enock Asubonteng, Nurudeen Abdul Aziz, Evans Adomako, Issa Kuka, Zakaria Yakubu, and Levetius Arthur.
The goalkeeping department will see changes with the exits of Richmond Ayi and Richard Attah, alongside Kwadwo Osei Bonsu, Sherif Shuab, Thomas Winimi, and captain Kofi Agbesima.
This extensive reshuffle is part of Hearts of Oak’s strategy to build a stronger, more competitive team for the upcoming season.
The club’s management aims to bring in fresh talent to enhance their squad and improve their prospects in both domestic and international competitions.
After a recent 2-1 loss to Asante Kotoko in the inaugural Democracy Cup, Hearts of Oak will next face Heart of Lions in the 2024 Homowo Cup at the Accra Sports Stadium.
